20 Years Of FV (and a sale too)

    January 5, 2020

This past November marked 20 years since Family Vineyard’s first releases. Thank you! It's been a long journey we've all been on.

We like to think back to the very kind words of John Darnielle who captured the whole ethos of the label.

"... Family Vineyard occupy a particular corner of the music universe, serving up equal parts talent, ambition and pretension from people who don't shrink from the word 'artist' and who make honest, blood-leaking efforts to be worthy of the name." (from "Last Plane to Jakarta" fanzine).

Throughout 2020 we’ll be sharing more about the past two decades and celebrating with new and archival releases.

Those first two releases in 1999 were: Bruce Anderson & Dale SophiaStrict (FV1) and Loren MazzaCane Connors & Darin GrayThe Lost Mariner (FV2) — both compact discs and still available in very limited quantities.

To show our thanks to for sticking with us, this week we are offering 25% off all purchases -- physical and digital. Use the code FV20SALE at checkout. The sale is good through Sunday, Jan. 12.

    Willimantic, China

    October 15, 2019

The American debut release from Lao Dan -- Live At Willimantic Records -- has made it to Old Paradise Bookstore (旧天堂书店) in Shenzhen, China. That's a world away from Willimantic, Connecticut -- where this was recorded with Paul Flaherty, Randall Colbourne and Damon Smith. The rest of the world can get their hands on this exquisite and furious compact disc (or digital version) on December 6.

    Jim and Kid on Tour

    July 15, 2019

Get blasted with Jim and Kid... details on the tour page.

  • Jim and Kid are 'Safe & Sane'

    April 1, 2019

Outrageous. Rabid. Explosive. #WTF? Whatever words you throw at Borbetomagus saxophonist Jim Sauter and Oneida / Man Forever drummer Kid Millions, they’ll chomp ‘em up and respond with a gargantuan roar to erase all notions of what a horn and skins can do.

The duo’s prior albums were built of tightly, clustered bursts and barbed assaults. On Safe & Sane, Sauter and Millions eschew brevity for ultra-endurance. The opening “Chrysanthemum,” clocks in at 32 minutes and continues on Side B before a final 12-minute avalanche that is “Falling Spiders.”

LP out March 3, 2019 -- a split release with Astral Spirits of Austin, TX. Preorder now!
